HERO

HERO Academy

Our Rebel HERO Academy is an elective, special projects course. No credit is awarded for this course other than the credits earned through the Chaffey College course(s) being taken (see the Chaffey class MATRIX).

All students who complete the HERO Academy successfully will earn their CALGETC certificate and will earn the privilege of participating in Chaffey College’s ceremony at the Rancho Cucamonga college campus. In addition, students receive individualized educational planning with the Chaffey dual enrollment counselor and have the option to pursue an AA degree if they choose or graduate early.

While enrolled in the HERO Academy, students are guided through their cohorted course each semester by Ms. Stanhope. Since Chaffey’s semester does not align day to day with AB Miller’s semester, there are some days in which students will use their AB Miller class period as a study hall period. These days fall prior to and at the conclusion of the Chaffey course.

The only way to join the HERO Academy is through an application process.

Participation in the HERO Academy is a four-year commitment.

Students in the HERO Academy follow the attached MATRIX of courses. As a result of quickly satisfying many of their graduation requirements, they free up their high school schedules to explore electives they otherwise would not be able to or to accommodate schedules that would otherwise not be possible. For example, some of our students are involved in ASB, athletics, AVID, Band, etc., and because of the flexibility of HERO, they may be able to add pathway coursework such as HSA, Aviation, etc., and not choose between their AP classes.
