AP- Advance Placement

Advanced Placement at A.B. Miller High School

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a nationwide academic program created by the College Board that offers high school students the opportunity to take college-level courses while still in high school. At the end of each course in May, students take an AP Exam, which is scored on a scale from 1–5. Students scoring a 3, 4, or 5 may earn college credit (depending on their college or university of choice), potentially saving students time and tuition costs.

Honors, AP and Dual Enrollment:

Honors and AP courses provide additional GPA weighting, positively impacting class rank and academic standing, as well as strengthening college and scholarship applications. AP credit is recognized around the world while dual enrollment credit is localized to institutions in California. Currently, honors and AP courses count towards valedictorian and salutatorian calculations; dual enrollment credit does not.

Resources that help aid an AP student be successful when they are struggling:

Students taking an AP class or classes are required to complete the AP Contract in its entirety the school year prior.

The AP contract for the 2026-2027 school year is due to Miss Jass’s secretary, Mrs. Jill Horenburg, by the end of the school day on May 28, 2026. Failure to turn this in will result in the student being unenrolled from all AP courses. Students will not be re-enrolled in AP courses until a parent meeting is held with Miss Jass and Ms. Stanhope.

AP contracts may be picked up and returned to Mrs. Horenburg in the Administration Office. Alternatively, you may download and print a copy here.

All AP related questions should be directed to Miss Jass at 909-357-5800, ext. 10103 or JassLR@fusd.net.
